Stockman of the Year

On the morning of March the 4th Stephen Short, Will Noble, Ed Fairbank, Dave Hamer and myself met at Otley Auction Mart for a long hard day of stock judging!
We set out to compete against many experienced stock judges, who had a better knowledge of competitions like this one. However this did not dampen our sprits and neither did the rain or the cold! We all went out there to have a good time, it didn’t matter if we won or lost it was the taking part that counted.
We all judged 4 pens of animals and completed a questionnaire, we had know idea what this would be like but we did it. We came home with smiles on our faces even though none of us won! Dave qualified for Northern Area.
We were proud as the competition was very tough, even though I got 94 out of 100 on beef I still didn’t get placed!
I am sure that Calderdale will soon be at the top, having many of our names mentioned. We will be a club to be proud of!
Well done to all that took part, and keep stock judging and remember practice makes perfect!!
