Welcoming in the New Year the Yorkshire YFC way!

December 31st 2006, donning jeans, checked shirt, pink fluffy cowboy hats, with extra glitter and still fresh with Christmas merriment, a group of us from Calderdale YFC set off on the trek to Keighley in search of a blinding New Year’s Do complete with highway men and saloon girls!
The weather was foul as usual, but that didn’t dampen our spirits, we arrived in good time to hear DJ Abdul (Andrew Wood) on the decks.
The tractor garage where the knees-up was to take place was decked out in a Wild West theme, including a tepee and ‘friendly’ inflatable cacti- ‘nuff said, you know who you are!!So we got our bearings and set out to weave our way through the hoards of party-goers to the ‘saloon’ and free bar!

A few dances on the dance floor and a couple of drinks later, midnight was rapidly approaching and everyone made their way back to the bar to get one last bevvie before the countdown. 10, 9, 8…and before we knew it, Old Lang Syne was blasting out and we were being hugged by other random young farmers wishing us a “Happy New Year”.Five minutes later, the disco was underway again, and we were into 2007, celebrating in much the same way we had left 2006, booze and boogying. Then came the much needed bacon sandwiches ands those who were sober enough to still stand up cleared them away with no problem! The great end to a great night!
Craven district should be proud of themselves to have hosted such a great do, a good time was had by all, I hope next year is up to scratch!
